The Fades Episode 4

This past Tuesday saw the broadcast of the best episode of the Fades yet. I was delayed in watching it due to Canadian Thanksgiving (and having to fly over the Rocky Mountains to get back to my TV), I was definitely not disappointed.

Last when we checked in, Paul looked as if he had become a Fade himself and for the majority of the episode it seemed that way. This lead to some absolutely wonderful acting by Daniel Kaluuya, who for me is the breakaway star of the show. Using humour to mask his pain and guilt, Mac (Kaluuya) delivers some of the hardest hitting, most emotional acting seen on any continent this autumn. Even the most jaded and cynical viewer must have felt a lump in their throat grow as they wondered whether Mac would deal with the trauma of seeing his best mate killed.

Other than that who doesn’t love Mac’s intros to each show

What makes Mac so likeable for me is that he’s the regular person thrust into not so regular situations. Someone has to make it make sense for us plebs after all and we’ve all got a bit of awkward geek in us, whether we admit it or not.

Another role to see Daniel Kaluuya in previous to the Fades is as Tea Leaf in Psychoville. Assisting the eccentric and blind Oscar Lomax, Tea Leaf helps find treasure, solve murders and eventually find himself in a predicament himself. Kaluuya is excellent as Tea Leaf, giving us a bit of a hint of what was yet to come and some very strong comedic timing.

THAT’S where I’ve seen Daniel Kaluuya before! Thanks! Agreed that he’s brilliant, and so is the show.
