Terranova – It’s all about the birds

Ever see the classic Hitchcock movie The Birds? Well if you saw tonight’s nail biter then chances are you’ve gotten the Cliff’s notes. In this evening teenage hormones and some surprisingly lame guitar playing get put on hold as the Terra Nova community gets attacked by a swarm of birds that looked like some dark mauve cormorants.

If you think this is the end for the future/past humans fear not, as this is Spielberg and America so everything will be fine in the end, except for maybe a bird scuffed floor.

All in all the VFX weren’t bad except for the bird crawling on the floor, which had the skin tone more of a plum than a living animal. Oh well, that is TV and we’ve all be forced to suffer through far worse effects in the past, Primeval anyone?

Im now three episodes into Terra Nova and it’s okay. Okay considering a buttload and a half was spent on the pilot resulting in a lush futuristic dying Earth I now miss. Maybe its just me but living in the past  just isn’t that exciting. Now it’s just a Jethro Tull song.
